Twig’s story
Twig can fell a sapling before breakfast. She thinks her brother’s cooking is overrated. She ate nine pizzas anyway.
- Record: two saplings before breakfast.
- Pizza count at the Lake House: nine.
- Wants her own apron. Will not admit it.
Twig is Gerzsi’s little sister, and the fastest sapling-feller on the upper river. She can bring one down before breakfast and still be first at the table.
When Gerzsi said he wanted to be a cook, Twig said, “You don’t even own a knife.” She was right. That was the whole problem.
She paddled downriver with Granny Birch for pizza night at the Lake House, fully planning to be unimpressed. She was unimpressed by pizza one. And two. By pizza nine, she admitted her brother might actually be a cook.
Before the boat left, she asked Chef Tamás how to hold a knife. He showed her the claw grip, with Granny watching. She practiced on a carrot. Then on a second carrot. Then on Gerzsi’s dinner.
Twig says she still prefers wood. Nobody believes her.
